Jazz is well and alive in the Bay - the MOSSEL Bay!
A huge crowd rocked up to support their favourite musos at the Bravo Lounge on Sunday eve where five local bands auditioned for a spot at the third MosJazz Festival to be held from 28 November to 2 December 2019.

The venue at the Garden Route Casino was jampacked and people had to queue outside as it quickly filled up after the first jazz sounds reverberated throughout the building. Five bands from the Southern Cape region came to strut their jazzy stuff to compete for an opportunity to perform at the third MosJazz festival.

South African superstar singer Jarrad Rickets was a surprise performer with the popular local band GMinor.

Clarence Ford, executive director of Camissa Solutions who hosts MosJazz, was impressed and said they were happy with the local talent on display at the auditions.
“We have seen some excellent progress in the standard of music during the past three years. It is clear that the local bands are working hard at developing their craft.”
“Mossel Bay is the right place for the biggest Beach Jazz Festival on the African Continent. Bring your swimming trunks and prepare for a stage in the sea, warm seawater, and one of the most temperate climates on earth. Did you know Mossel Bay compares to Hawai on the weather front?"

The first artists to perform at the third MosJazz festival were also announced on Sunday night - Jarrad Rickets, Jimmy Dludlu, Kurt Darren, Salome, Claire Phillips, Signature SA, Allistair Izobel, Late Final, Sons of Sellassie, Ocean Breeze, DONVINO (Make it Funky), GMinor, Leslie Kleinsmith, Ernie Smith, N2, Lee Stagg, Brent Krus and MORE. The names of more artists will be released in July.

Lovetta Bolters, Camissa’s CEO, thanked the locals for their continued support and said without the support of the public, municipality and local businesses MosJazz cannot happen.

“We are here to build long-lasting relationships with all role players, particularly the entrepreneurs, and job creation is a big focus for us.
“That is why we will be back here in September with the Cape Peninsula University of Technology to offer entrepreneurship classes. Imagine the next port engineer comes from the local community!”
Two local bands, Ocean Breeze and GMinor, are already included in the lineup for MosJazz. Ford said Camissa Solutions are the biggest investor in local talent in the Western Cape except for the government.

“We will continue to promote local bands and music and afford them the opportunity to share the stage with more established South African and international musicians. That would help them to expand their musical horizon.”
